Talking Flight

'What wild creature is more accessible to our eyes and ears, as close to us and everyone in the world, as universal as a bird?' David Attenborough

Welcome to my website, a celebration of a lifetime of reading and writing, an ode to history and evolution, and a testament to the beauty and ingenuity of birds.

From left to right: Red-winged Blackbird nest & eggs, 2015; House Wren fledglings, 2015; Baltimore Oriole's Balancing Act, 2014.

The language of birds is very ancient, and, like other ancient modes of speech, very elliptical;

little is said, but much is meant and understood.
